Wolfsong by TJ Klune

What We Liked

Jems

TJ Klune never misses and Wolfsong is absolutely no exception. The absolutely gorgeous writing, incisive characters, and bone-deep emotions made me want to read it all in one go, but I also literally did not want to finish the book because I was so attached to the world and its characters. It didn’t feel like a romance novel in the best way; it felt like real life, with all its beauty, loss, and love.

What We Didn’t Like

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that I didn’t read it sooner. I’m so glad this full series is getting a re-release because the covers are beautiful and now Jems and I both own BEAUTIFUL sprayed-edge SIGNED paperbacks of this book.

So far, I haven’t met a TJ Klune book I didn’t like and I’ve even gotten to meet TJ Klune himself. I started Wolfsong in the evening (I tend to read in bed at night) and I was like “oh no I am going to read this whole entire book in one night I better stop now” at like 28% and then the next night I just stayed up until 3am reading the whole rest of it. Every time I tried to find a reasonable stopping point I thought it was unreasonable of TJ Klune to write a book so compelling and delightful and harrowing and heartbreaking and heartmending and everything in between such that I couldn’t ever find a reasonable stopping point.

Y’all I ain’t even going to lie, I didn’t even care if there was any spice by the end of this book because it was SO BEAUTIFULLY GOOD.

But luckily for us there was spice so we get the best of both worlds 🤪. Now when I tell you there was yearning, I mean there was yearning yearning—pining of the highest order, if you will. These two wanted each other bad, and that mixed with the werewolf fated mates?? SHEEEEEESH!!! The passion was so raw and real it legit made me put down the book multiple times because it was making me feel the big feelings. At the end of the day, I’m giving this a 7 peps because although the spice only happens when they’re both human, but there are some monster-fuckery vibes.
